Author Biography

James Midgley, Berkeley University

James Midgley is Professor and Dean Emeritus at the School of Social Welfare, University of California, Berkeley. Originally from South Africa, he trained as a social worker and sociologist. He served as Dean at Berkeley from 1997 to 2006 and has had a distinguished international career in social policy, particularly in developing countries. He has also held academic posts at Louisiana State University and the London School of Economics.
