Abstract

Urban mobility focused on the car generates a series of impacts on the quality of life ofthe people. The street in the contemporary city is equipped to serve motorized transport, relegating the pedestrian and the cyclist to the background. To value road space as a place of citizen encounters generates a challenge and an opportunity to improve the conditions of city living, which is increasingly being addressed by various professional groups and citizens, as a new focal point for the disciplines of global urbanism.
