Interseccional spaces for the social inclusion of women with disabilities

Authors

Abstract

The work aims to identify from the feminist urban geography the elements of the space that produce social barriers and exclude women with disabilities from the public space, the space is placed as a social production and therefore it is possible to transform it and make it accessible and inclusive. We question the androcentrism that excludes women with disabilities and that has made cities disabling. We believe that disability needs to be understood as a matter of public interest from the social model, hence the importance of the rule of law in favor of women with disabilities so that they have an independent life. Therefore, it is urgent that the Mexican State abide by the recommendations that the Committee on the Human Rights of persons with disabilities has made to it, which must be implemented at the different levels of government and that society as a whole become aware.
